That Damn Podcast

I'm pleased to announce that next Sunday will be the release of my latest endeavor, That Damn Podcast! TDP will be mostly comedy bits, featuring characters from different YDK comics, as well as a few new things. You'll get to hear Uncle Mike and Aunt Rita, The Mr. Mintz Show, a short Banion bit and a new piece, The Merkelson's, an homage to old radio shows. There will also be new music as well. Sometime later this weel I'll be posting some previews here - exclusively on the blog-so you can get an idea of what the show will be about.

I certainly look forward to hearing this new project. Good luck with it.

Owen, any chance you could actually stop the new stuff and actually stick to your promised schedule for once? Or is that asking too much? Good luck with the tv show, by the way. If you treat them with the same broken promises you treat your fans, you're in for a fun time.

Yeah, you're right and I apologize. I get ideas and I have see what happens with them, sometimes at the expense of what I'm currently doing. Having said that, though, my website has alot of material on it, so it's not like I'm a total slacker. As to the tv thing, though, please bear in mind that while I do the website basically for free, the nice tv people tend to pay very well. If you think you can compare the two you're sadly mistaken. And the newspapers who pay to run my stuff will tell you that since 1997 I have never missed a deadline.

Is that any different than your fans "paying" you when you asked for donations and proceeded to go back on the promises you made to get the money in the first place?

Actually, yes. Without the donations there wouldn't be any YDK website at all.
The whole webcomic thing is relatively new, and we've all tried different ways to raise money to justify the time we spend doing these things. Many methods have come and gone. If it makes people better feel better to think that I'm a lazy bastard who breaks his promises, then fine. Shoot me an email and I'll refund any money you've donated. I've been putting content on the internet for almost 10 years. Again, my apologies. When I set schedules I sincerely intend to try and meet them, but sometimes it's just not possible. And sometimes, I think to myself, hey, I thought of something funnier. I want to do this instead. And that's why I use the internet. There are no editors. I can do that.
Again, my apologies. And I'm sincere when I say that.

I reckon "grumpy" lives up to his/her name...

... Give the man a break.

He has a creative license.

Although, I suggest, Owen, that perhaps you might wanna phase out the whole "schedule" thing, or give a slightly rougher timescale as to when your comics will be done - so that you won't get the likes of grumpy here on your back for missing the webcomic deadlines you set yourself.

Of course, some of us are a little more laid-back and easy-going.

That said - I did once donate 1 million pounds sterling to your website, and I am not happy at all with the current state of affairs!

[sniggers] Aye...

And grumpy - relaaaaax man. Here, have a toke on this...

I actually like the way the scheduling of the comics works out. I can miss a a day here and there and not miss out on anything.
